Willamette Week says you need to be more literary. I don't understand that.
Congratulations, Tao. Getting to a second run is fantastic.
How many books were printed in the first run? How about the second?
I wanna read 'burning babies' now.
I liked Noah Cicero in the spectacular reader you made.
I read it on the toilet.
I take poetry very seriously. That's why.
tao
you are famous now.
be famous.
martinis.
soon you will be invited to a party.
joyce carol oates will be there.
she will say, "Tao, have you read Them?"
and you will say, "Yes, in one night actually."
Foer will come up, hug you and cup your nuts.
they should make a pixar movie of eee. i would prefer a pixar movie. get johnson to call pixar, pixar would like that. they are probably bored of making that green guy movie over and over again. they want to be taken seriously as artists. convince them they will be taken seriously as artists, that money doens't matter. go with pixar.
tom
email impetus press and tell them to publish burning babies
i don't know if that is responsible of me.
but you should do it.
Ok i will email impetus press in a moment and tell them to publish it. Yes.
my computer wont allow me onto their site because it is too old or something. Also i started to worry that you were maybe joking and that it may have embarrassed you if i did write to them and then they wrote back to you saying: 'whats with the emails from this tom guy? tell him to stop sending us emails already, doesnt he have any idea about how stuff works?.'
But i will write to them if i can get the email address from anyone.
vomitingghosts,
i think they mean i should be more dramatic
miles,
the first printing was 500,000 copies, i think the second is 300,000 copies
noah,
i will get a photo with foer and i cupping each other's nuts, chabon will walk across the room but i will not cup his nuts
I wish the reviewer's last name were more literary.
Noah,
Not that it matters but Pixar doesn't make the green guy movies.

Balderdash. They produced 1 million units of my first book; as your books were numbers 2 and 3, I imagine that they must have brought out at least 1 million more than that. They're harder workers than you suspect, and Canada has a wider sea of trees than anyone dares to imagine. They plant them further and further north every year. And after you go on tour, especially when you get to Washington State, close enough to border of their factories and their religion, if those two concepts are not interchangable, even if skipping a stone into a postmodern sea of trees had not undergone reconsideration, as technology is no longer the swing of the arm, but the skip of the stone; but you know what they say. Or at least what their elves say. Because in the aftermath of the slow march of their electronics, with so much less of their paper devoted to their futile expressions of object-driven Iddish want stamped and mailed to poles and never returned, their industry was on the ropes. But they are kind to us, these people of paper; and so praise Allah for independent publishing, for the stones it skips across the sea of trees like a broken record, the powerlines it jabs temporarily into the dissipating ripples, and the authors, like you, who keep it skipping onward. The blaze of five hundred thousand, or five hundred thousand thousand, units through our cultural mangroves will never prevent these hovercraft captains of industry from reaching the headwaters of their ultimate destiny.
