That seemed a little juvenile. Or something. And maybe derivative of other-things-that-are-more-interesting-by-people-we-know-to-well, maybe. But not as good. No. Not as good. From my perspective. Which is the only one I can speak from. Since I am, effectively, the center of my universe. The axis, or, you know, whatever, zebra, banana.

Belltown? Schmancy. Where do you live? My family lives in Woodinville. I was just visiting the boyfriend's family in Greenwood. You been to the 826 there? Are you in to that shit? How 'bout going to bumbershoot: you going? I haven't been in almost ten years. Can you believe that? I'm old as shit.

Sorry that was a little harsh. I'm in a lousy mood. I'm off to my meeting. Then I'll go home and slap the kids around.

Ta.

Much love, actually,
Maddie

You received two more comments on your post than I received on mine, Brandon. Therefore: you win.

I lose.

Seattle used to have a Monkeybicycle reading series, but then all the MB people moved to New York. And Providence.

I concur that Alice Blue should start a reading series. If Alice Blue folks think about doing this, I'd be happy to help out.

Cranky is a Seattle journal.

You could go to Ballard for this open mic. I think they have people reading things there.

The Hugo House is a good place to start, it's on capital hill, behind the reservoir. They have readings there.

Ravena Press is based out of Seattle (Snow Monkey, and some newer journal).

I'll keep thinking.

On the Alice Blue Reading series: Most of our writers come from East of the Mississippi. We don't have the kind of money to fly anyone out here. Or, for that matter, to fly out there. If someone wants to start one out there in our name maybe. I don't know. I'll think about it.

Sarah's already late with this issue. Lots of pressure.
