ar you saying it's a bad thing that The Great Gatsby makes you want to push people into rivers at night?
"night" is really the only good time to push people into rivers. "day" is more for canals, yes?

the great gatsby makes me want to drive a green-light-tipped pile-driver through the skulls of the people who like to talk about symbolism in literature. seriously. i have never recovered from (a) the green light or (b) the red room in jane eyre. one reason i am an english professor is to ensure that such outrages are never inflicted again on unwitting young people.
the great gatsby makes me want to take out a massive loan and go snorkeling in really deep water and be eaten by a jewfish and have the jewfish be eaten by a whale shark
